Perlane

Perlane, is an injectable cosmetic dermal filler and is a long-lasting gel that, once injected into the skin with an ultra-fine needle, lift and add volume soften wrinkles and facial folds of patients across the world. Made of a natural substance called hyaluronic acid, it is a completely safe treatment. The hyaluronic acid in Perlane simply supplements the body's age-depleted hyaluronic acid to plump-up the lip or to raise the skin and 'fill in' the particular wrinkle being treated. Perlane is also a popular filler for lip augmentation, facial depressions, and facial scarring.

Perlane had been approved by U.S. Food and Drug Administration ("FDA") since May 2007. Perlane has been widely used throughout Europe, South America and Canada for years. Perlane is marketed and sold in more than 60 countries outside the United States where it has been used in more than one million procedures.

The difference between Restylane and Perlane is the size of the particle (with Perlane containing more hyaluronic acid). This means that Perlane does a better job of filling deep lines while Restylane is used in fine lines or in thin skinned people.

The difference between Perlane and Juvederm Ultra Plus is that they competitors, made by competing companies and so each claims that theirs is better. Both, Perlane and Juvederm Ultra Plus are designed to be an alternative to Restylane and Juvderm Ultra. The Juvederm Ultra Plus comes in a 0.8 cc syringe, the Perlane in a 1 cc syringe. In terms of volume Perlane contains nearly 25% more per syringe than Juvederm Ultra Plus and this may factor into the cost as well. In the selection of one over another, our doctors would gauge which of them was more cost effective depending on how deep the lines are and how many syringes were needed with each injection to correct the folds.

The difference between Perlane and Radiesse is that the Perlane is a softer filler and more moldable. Radiesse is a more firm filler that often lasts longer.

All these fillers are used in men and women. Our clinic has had excellent results with all of them.
